Lapsit

Lapsit storytimes are for babies ages zero to two and their caregivers. Lapsit is held every Tuesday from 9:30 to 10 AM and consists of books, songs, and fingerplays. Presenters also give early literacy tips for caregivers. Lapsit promotes early literacy skills through activities such as reading, singing, playing, and talking. Rhyming books, songs, and fingerplays promote phonological awareness and vocabulary development. Children build narrative skills through interaction with the storyteller and text and learn that books and words are fun. Each lapsit monthly theme is derived from that month’s country theme, as it is difficult to find books appropriate for babies that match up with the country themes exactly. The only costs associated with lapsit are regular collection and salary costs.
